Guestbook at Ganarew Cottage Wye Valley

Fantastic host, very responsive, resolved any issues amazingly quickly and went above and beyond. The beds were amazingly comfortable, the log burner a dream and the location has amazing walks on its door step. We did a lovely 1.5 hour walk into Monmouth which was picturesque.

Ann,

A lovely spacious accommodation Well suited for families, with games provided. There are plenty of walks for dogs nearby. Good location for visiting Monmouth, Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey.

Angela,

Great place to stay for a weekend away with friends. The rooms are spacious (especially the bedrooms) , the kitchen is well stocked and the location is nice and quiet. If you do feel like visiting a town, you've got Monmouth a few minutes away and other great places to eat or hike around

Kiesar,

Very spacious and comfortable cottage. We stayed as a group of 7 friends and it was perfect. The highlight for us was the games room! Kitchen well equipped and just all around a good space for a large group. We loved the sinks in every bedroom it was very handy. Showers good pressure and always hot. Beautiful views outside the front and very peaceful area. Kate was very helpful when we managed to lock ourselves out (and very responsive throughout). I would recommend staying here for a fun outdoorsy holiday! Lots of good pubs nearby to rest after a long walk. Cosy log burner for the evenings.

Rosie,

Even nicer than the photos suggested, all four bedrooms are of a generous size and a great space for a family get together (we were 7 adults and 1 small dog). Everything you might need was provided, had a friendly homely feel. Beautiful views in a quiet location, only real problem was that our stay wasn't long enough, we were discussing a re-visit before we'd even left !

Pete,

A lovely base for the week to explore the Wye Valley and beyond. Beautiful views from the cottage. Well equipped kitchen and plenty of space throughout.

Beki,

A perfect place to stay - the beautiful cottage was a great base for a wedding we were attending in Abergavenny. All rooms were immaculate and the hosts were always in prompt and helpful communication; from the moment we booked to any assistance required during our stay. We couldn't recommend Ganarew Cottage enough!

Chris,

My friends and I had a wonderful time staying at Katie’s cottage in Ganarew — we were a bit worried we’d struggle to find it on arrival, but it was much easier than anticipated! Once there, the cottage was enormous and very impressive, and there was plenty of space for the group of us. The surrounding area was gorgeous and we really enjoyed the walk to find King Arthur’s Cave that was within an hour of the cottage on the Sunday afternoon. Only comment would be to be mindful that there is no local shop within easy walking distance, we went to Hereford to do the shopping — it’s definitely a getaway made easier by having a car!

Caitlin,

Great place to stay for a family get together. Lots of Space inside with games room a bonus for kids! Outside space adequate but BBQ great addition. Would recommend !

Carol,

This is the second time we have stayed at This house. Great location for walking and taking some time out. The bedrooms and the kitchen are a good size for 8 people. We have a lovely time we will most certainly be back again.

Lulu,

We went with friends (two families of four) and it was perfect! We didn't feel cramped at all and the house is very warm and cosy. The games room was a wonderful feature too and the kitchen was very well stocked with utensils, etc. We would return!

Julia,

Perfect place for a family trip away whilst exploring the local area. Everything we needed for a relaxing stay, great communication and accommodation fitted our needs perfectly. Comes highly recommended!! Thank you 😊

Jayne,

This was a fabulous, spacious cottage in beautiful surroundings. Everything in lovely condition with a cozy log burning fire. Rooms all large and well equipped. Plenty to explore in the surrounding countryside. A great place to stay - highly recommended.

Heather,

A very comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage in a peaceful location. Lots of lovely things to do close by whether you want to explore or relax. Great communication from Katie and Alice. I would return without hesitation.

Jacky,

A beautiful cottage in an amazing location close to the forest. The cottage has the perfect balance of comfort and practicality. Everything was very clean and we all slept soundly on very comfy, huge beds! Great communication from host. Couldn’t fault it at all and hope to return.

Ann,

We had a lovely long weekend at the cottage in February, great location with walks straight out of the door and an easy walk down to the village for supplies. The cottage is well appointed and comfortable, we all noted that the beds were comfortable and even checked the labels on the sheets. Plenty of space for all to eat at the table and well appointed kitchen with an extra fridge in the garage. We would definitely visit again.

Lisa,

This is a lovely cottage if you need a restful break. A couple of lovely walks from the cottage so not having to use the car! We were able to have our shopping delivered just after we arrived which was great. If you forget anything there is a local shop about 1.5 miles away. Will plan on returning. 🙂

Sue,

A very comfortable and clean cottage from which to explore Symonds Yat and South Wales. We would definitely like to book the cottage again, it was perfect in every way!

James,

Alice’s place was fantastic - tranquil location by a lovely church, huge bedrooms, and dining/lounge area, secure garden for dogs and kids. Highly recommend a stay here.

Joe,

We had a fantastic weekend for my mum’s 60th. The house was perfect and so cosy. We were surprised by how roomy it was, the house felt like a home away from home. The surrounding countryside was so beautiful with great walks from the front door. We’ll definitely recommend to friends and hope to be back.

Bethan,

As 4 old golfers the cottage was perfect, the rooms are so big there were no arguments this year. Good for many golf courses Monmouth GC is a beautiful course. Also plenty of room to lounge about in the evening and great cooking facilities.

John,

Excellent home for a group holiday. We were three families with young kids and had everything we needed and plenty of space. Lots of activities in the area for a lovely holiday. Will stay again.

Abbey,

This was our second visit to Ganarew Cottage. We were there for a family weekend and the cottage was absolutely fantastic. Very spacious in quiet village with Monmouth only 10 mins away. Cottage is very well furnished with 4 decent sized bedrooms with the master bedroom having an en suite. There was a bathroom and toilet on the first floor and another toilet downstairs. Large and well equipped kitchen and a handy games room in the garage. Would definitely recommend👍😁

Robert,

A beautifully presented cottage with everything you could possibly need. Huge bedrooms and very spacious living space. Freezer and extra fridge in the garage/ games room a bonus. Lots of games for all ages. A very comfortable place to stay. Attention to detail was spot on. The kitchen was very well equipped. Loved the plastic crockery and cutlery for the little people in our group. The soap by each sink was an extra bit of luxury. It was beautifully clean, warm, cozy AND spacious (if thats possible!) The Christmas tree and decorations were very tasteful and made my birthday weekend with my family a very special time.

Joyce,

We had an amazing time staying at Ganarew for my husbands birthday with some friends and our children. The children had a field day in the games room, running to it first thing as soon as they woke up. My 6 year old is now obsessed with table football. For working parents who just need a break - this is where you truly can get one.

Tina,

Excellent cottage in great location - seeing the stars in the sky at night and hearing the birds at sunrise - pure bliss The cottage itself happily accommodated 8 of us 6 Adults 2 young children ( it’s well catered for young children felt like nothing would be too much trouble) in clean very comfortable beds and linen, comfy sofas, great dining table which we had some lovely family time around , whether eating or playing board games, we did take our own but found the games room in the cottage to be fab at keeping everybody amused. The local area is stunning make some time to get out and about and explore its well worth it, 3 days was just not long enough

Sarah,

Beautiful cottage, a lot bigger than I imagined. Our first holiday with our new addition to the family and it was the perfect place. Countryside on your doorstep with some beautiful walks and lots of fresh air. We loved the little touches that were left for us so thank you very much.

Amy Collett,

"Fabulous home from home"
We arrived tired after a frustrating journey in the pouring rain but felt immediately happy and at home in this lovely house. Great idea to welcome us with edible treats. It was very clean and nicely presented with lovely homely touches - tasteful art and nice furniture. The beds were a good quality with cotton sateen sheets. Our party of 8 had plenty of space in the sitting/ dining area and in their spacious bedrooms, the extra nursery room with cot would be good idea too if you needed that too. The garage easily held our 5 bikes and kayak which was helpful. Our dog came too though he wasn't allowed upstairs with a helpful stair gate there were dog treats too for him on arrival. Only slight point would be fridge small for the 8 (3 adults and 5 teens) and slight shortage of big saucepans etc, but nice to have electric whisk and plenty of mugs! There is a rain shower in main bathroom which was great.
The location was good - close to Monmouth with nice local shops, Waitrose and Lidl. Also easy trip up to Ross on Wye because of proximity to A40. So much to do round the area. I wish we could have stayed for 2 weeks.

“Lovely Place to stay, very convenient for the Forest of Dean”
5 of 5 stars
It was lovely to be welcomed with a home made strawberry cake and basics to keep us going. The cottage has everything you need and is a very relaxing place to spend a holiday in this area. Katie was on hand to help with anything we needed. We came for a walking and cycling holiday and will be coming again.
